Robert R. Guida is a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University (B.A.) and Rutgers University School of Law (J.D.). He passed the New Jersey Bar in 1962 following his clerkship with Presiding Criminal Court Judge James R. Giuliano in Essex County.
He has been a member of the New Jersey Bar for over 50 years. In his private practice, he appeared before every level of the New Jersey Court System and the United States District Court and tried many civil and criminal trials, with and without juries. He also appeared before Administrative Law Judges, P.E.R.C. Arbitrators and Mediators, Administrative Boards and County and municipal planning and zoning boards of adjustment.
Judge Guida served as Wood-Ridge Zoning Board Attorney, Special Counsel to the Borough of Moonachie and Carlstadt, Wood-Ridge Borough Attorney (9 years), and Labor Attorney for the City of Hackensack (10 years). He also served as Councilman, Counsel President and Mayor of the Borough of Wood-Ridge for 7 years.
Judge Guida was appointed by Governor Brendan T. Byrne to the Bergen County Tax Board where he served as Commissioner and Board President (7 years). He was appointed as a Judge of the New Jersey Superior Court by Governor Christine Todd Whitman and sat in the Bergen County Vicinage. Since his retirement from the bench in 2002, he has served as “Of Counsel” to The Law Offices of Stephen P. Sinisi, Esq., LLC, and has been actively engaged in mediation and binding arbitration and has been appointed by various municipalities to act as Hearing Officer in police and other employee disciplinary matters, Alcoholic Beverage Control violation hearings and election law matters. He has also been appointed by municipalities to conduct investigations and to report on the performance of departments, officials and employees.
